WITH news that only 1 in 400 takeaway coffee cups are recycled, environmentalists are banging the green drum urging coffee chains to get greener.
More than 8 million cups of takeaway coffee are estimated to be bought everyday and the amount that's being recycled is miniscule in comparison.
One way that's been mooted to combat the problem is to charge customers a 5p coffee tax for their takeaway cups, much like shops did with plastic bags.
